(((VSA Awareness Program)))
The VSA Awareness program is an idea that was brough up when the creation of the tour was in progress. Many of us in VSA have been in trouble with the law; have followed older idiots into other trouble, and we can now look back and just wish that it doesn't happen to future kids.
This is NOT a program for the "less priviliged" kids only, because that discriminates the rest of the kids who want to join, and when they get older they'll think they were being given a handout for being poor. This is a program for local kids from anywhere in our region, or even Santiago, who want to learn how to paint graffiti. So, we proudly present a foundation type of thing (minus the politics of a foundation), where we take a hefty part of our earnings to create programs for kids to enter the world of graffiti, teaching them about respect, and making your neighborhood a colorful place. So far, we have helped our in some of Valparaíso's worst neighborhoods (full of freebasers, thugs and dealers), and even they say to be seeing a new world of color. |
Do you want to help out??Become a part of this awesome initiative, and help out as you travel through Chile.
All you have to do is donate paint or painting materials when you take one of our tours, and we can keep doing this program.. Now, if you don't know whwere to go, we can go with you or for you, and just telll the guide you want to donate a part of your tip to VSA Awareness. You can leave your email address, and we'll include you in our "VSA Support Club" newsletter. If you're in town on a Saturday or Sunday, which is when we normally paint*, join us as we paint the walls and meet some of these cool kids! Not eeeeeevery weekend... Materials that we use: - Spray Cans - Paint Rollers - Painting Kits (Tray with rollers inside) - Gloves and drop cloths - Paint (1 gallon; 1/4 gallon; etc) mainly blue, red, yellow, black and white, that way we teach kids to make their own colors. |
